I was fully expected to be discussing election negotiating today. But the exit polls last night, when the polling stations closed surprised everyone. In fact I re-recorded my podcast as a result of this!
Negotiation is part of the process of government. 5 years ago, the Conservatives and Lib Dems formed a coalition, to govern the country. This will have involved negotiation on the part of the most valued parts of the parties’ proposed policies. In retrospect the Lib Dems must realise they negotiated away some key points that were core values for their supporters. They lost huge support and many seats.
In this week’s podcast, I discuss ensuring you don’t lose your core values when you are negotiating. The expert on negotiating is Natalie Reynolds from Advantage Spring. If you fail to recognise your core values or costs, you will lose support (like the Lib Dems did) or make a loss financially.
