Farewell to Theresa May; as you know I have been following the trials and tribulations of her speaking skills for the last three years. And more recently this led to me being invited to address the European Speakers’ Association in Paris – where I shared how May was misusing her voice.
And just to remind you, I contacted the Prime Minister soon after she became PM because I was aware she was misusing her voice and as a result was not making as much impact as she might. However I received a polite reply stating that everything was in hand. Then we had a series of mishaps….
I have no doubt TM will be speaking at events in future and certainly there have been interviews where she has been candid with her opinion on how some cabinet members behaved. Here are three tips I can offer you Theresa.
- Please, please get in touch to sort out the problem with your voice. I will help you with your posture and vocal production. Then you will rock.
- Write your own speeches; stop listening to weak advisors who only consider themselves. You have strong opinions and extraordinary experiences that people wish to hear.
- Show emotion; you are a real person and people engage and connect with you when you are authentic. I am not the only person who has respect for you and the situation you were in. I hope History treats you kindly.
