Pitching in the ice? Is this a communication version of the Iron Man concept? Where you pitch for business in an ice hole? Well this is what happens in the Oulufestpitch every year. Read all about it.
This looks so much fun (not) although I personally have fond memories of Oulu, since I au paired for a family one summer in the town.
So why on earth do you think this is relevant to communication, public speaking and presenting? Well in an odd sort of way, the severe cold could assist you when communicating.
When we prepare for a pitch, presentation, public speaking engagement or other performance, we practice. We prepare. We worry. It is really important we do that, to ensure our performance is polished. BUT there is a risk that your performance will be TOO polished: too perfect, without the magic and engaging energy.
In the case of sticking yourself in a freezing ice hole to pitch for business, your mind is so concentrated on the cold, getting out quickly, and not freezing, that you don’t get bogged down by the rehearsal, the wording etc. You just PERFORM (unless of course you’re too cold or petrified [get it]).
Obviously I don’t advocate you sticking yourself into an ice hole to pitch for business! But there are techniques and tricks to enable you to create that magic when you speak and when you perform.
If you would like to discover your Va Va Voom when you speak; create your MOJO when you pitch, why not arrange a no obligation chat with me to see how I can transform your speaking.
