The power of a coffee break

May 18, 2015 //  by Susan Heaton-Wright

Yes: despite our busy lives I advocate the power of a coffee break.

Of course there are plenty of benefits from taking a coffee break. In the latest Superstar Communicator podcast, I share many benefits to taking a coffee or tea break and being a good colleague – making a cuppa for your team rather thank slinking off to get your own cuppa.

 mug of tea

As someone that has a team, including apprentices there are great benefits for junior members of the team to network and engage with people, you wouldn’t speak to normally. Going on a ‘Bun Run’ or making the tea gets your face in front of more senior people. So instead of sneering at this job (which isn’t unknown with graduate trainees), grab the opportunity to raise your profile!

Also, it is an opportunity to catch up with your colleagues – even if you are hard pressed to meet a deadline, and to stretch your legs!

So next time, instead of focusing on ‘wasted time’ think of the benefits of the power of a coffee break, to you and your team.
