How often do you attend meetings only to leave frustrated that you haven’t been heard? Perhaps the meeting is dominated by one person or what you have to say is ignored by the other people in the meeting? In the latest Superstar Communicator iTunes Podcast, we share 3 top tips to being effective in meetings.
We are joined by the meeting maestro man: Neil Simon, who has up to 5 meetings a day, with a wide range of stakeholders, professionals, members of the community and colleagues. Neil is a consultant who has been in very successful regeneration programmes of a number of town centres including Luton and Slough, the regeneration of Hornsey Town Hall and presently the redevelopment of Tottenham and Wood Green. He has meetings with a wide variety of people and has some great tips to share.
In the podcast, Neil shares three top tips to ensuring you are heard, understood and taken notice of when you are in meetings.
1. Take some time to research who will be at the meeting, and what they want to get out of it. Suppliers might wish to promote their own services or products; or people that could be affected by decisions.
2. Taking the time to read the agenda of the meeting before you go to the meeting. Understand the aims of the meeting from your own perspective and those of others.
3. Being clear about what you want to say – and making sure you say it.
